OUR MISSION

1
Why did you start Straight Line Coffee?

Because great coffee shouldn't be this hard to find. Across the country, there are incredible independent roasters producing exceptional coffee every day. The problem isn't that good coffee doesn't exist, it's that most people don't know where to find it.

We started Straight Line Coffee to do the searching for you. We travel, taste, and partner with roasters who consistently produce coffee we're proud to drink ourselves. Our goal is simple: make great coffee easier to discover and easier to enjoy.

2
How do you choose your roasters?

We look for roasters who are obsessed with quality, consistency, and craftsmanship.

Every potential partnership starts with the coffee itself. We taste extensively, evaluate consistency, and look for coffees that people will genuinely want to drink every day, not just coffees that sound impressive on paper. If a roaster's coffee meets our standards and aligns with our mission, we'll explore working together.

3
Why don't you roast your own coffee?

Because there's so many incredible roasters across the country that don't get any recognition. Instead of building another roasting operation, we partner with talented independent roasters who are already producing outstanding coffee. Our job is to find them, build relationships with them, and share their work with people across the country. We're not trying to reinvent roasting. We're trying to make discovering great coffee easier.

4
What makes a coffee Straight Line Approved?

Every coffee we select must meet three standards:

  1. It has to taste great.
  2. It has to be consistent.
  3. It has to be something we'd happily drink ourselves.

We aren't looking for the most exotic or complicated coffee. We're looking for coffee that delivers an exceptional cup, day after day.

5
Is the U.S. still making great coffee?

Absolutely! Some of the best coffee we've ever tasted came from small independent roasters that most people have never heard of. Great coffee is being roasted every day in cities, towns, and communities all across the country. Our mission is to help bring more of those discoveries to light.

6
Do you visit every roaster you partner with?

Whenever possible, yes. We believe great partnerships are built through relationships, not just transactions. Visiting roasters helps us better understand their process, their values, and the people behind the coffee. Every collection has a story, and meeting the people who create it is part of that story.

7
How many coffees do you taste before choosing one?

More than you'd probably guess! Finding the right coffee takes time, comparison, and a lot of tasting. We evaluate multiple coffees and roast profiles before deciding what will become part of a Straight Line Collection. We do the searching so you don't have to.

COLLECTIONS

1
What is a Straight Line Collection?

A Collection is a partnership with a specific independent roaster. Each Collection represents a place, a roaster, and a story. While the coffees may come from different regions and roasting philosophies, every Collection must meet the same standards for quality and consistency.

2
What does "30°N" mean?

30°N is named after the latitude line that runs through the home of our first Collection.

We use geographic coordinates to honor the places and communities behind each partnership. Every Collection is connected to a real location and the people who help make it possible.

3
Do all your coffees come from the same roaster?

No. Each Collection is built around a different independent roaster. As Straight Line Coffee grows, you'll see Collections from different regions across the country, each with its own story and character.

4
Will there be more Collections?

Absolutely! The search never stops. We're constantly exploring, tasting, and building relationships with roasters across the country. Our goal is to continue introducing new Collections while maintaining the quality and consistency people expect from Straight Line Coffee.

5
What happens when a Collection sells out?

Some Collections may return, while others may be limited depending on availability and the nature of the partnership. When a Collection becomes available, we encourage customers to enjoy it while it's here. Part of the fun is discovering what's next!

COFFEE & ORDERING

1
Which coffee should I start with?

If you're not sure where to begin, start with Standard. It's our most balanced and versatile coffee and represents what Straight Line is all about: approachable, dependable, and easy to enjoy.

2
I don't know much about coffee. Is Straight Line Coffee for me?

Absolutely! Straight Line Coffee was built for people who want great coffee without needing to become coffee experts. You don't need to know tasting notes, processing methods, or brewing theory to enjoy a better cup. We believe good coffee should be easy to choose and even easier to enjoy.

3
How fresh is the coffee when it ships?

Our coffee is roasted in small batches and shipped fresh. Unlike coffee that can sit on store shelves for extended periods, we focus on getting coffee to you as close to roasting as possible so you can enjoy it at its best.

4
How much coffee does one bag make?

A standard 12 oz bag typically makes around 20–25 cups of coffee, depending on your brewing method and how strong you like your coffee. For most people, that's about one to two weeks of daily brewing.

5
What grind should I choose?

If you have a grinder at home, we recommend ordering whole bean for maximum freshness.

If you'd prefer ground coffee:

  • Drip Coffee Maker: Medium
  • Pour Over: Medium-Fine
  • French Press: Coarse
  • Espresso Machine: Espresso Grind
  • Cold Brew: Coarse

If you're unsure, reach out and we'll help you choose!

6
What if I don't love the coffee?

We want you to enjoy every bag you order. If something isn't right, contact us and we'll do our best to make it right. Great coffee and great customer experiences are both important to us.

7
Are you a coffee company or a coffee scout?

A little bit of both! We're a coffee company built around the idea of discovery. Our job is to search for exceptional independent roasters, build relationships with the people behind them, and bring great coffee to customers who don't have time to search for it themselves. Think of us as your guide to great coffee across the country.
